If you fancy adding a taste of South America, the chance of sitting next to some Newcastle United footballers while you eat and dancing your cares away to some classic guilty pleasures, there is a street in the heart of town that invites you to do just that every single week.

Newcastle city centre is a place that's full of great stretches of road, from Grey Street, ranked as one of the UK's 'most picturesque' to party paradise the Bigg Market, with bars like Popworld and Cosy Joes, traditional boozers The Old George and The Beehive and much talked about new addition Hooters. And its a street that is a close neighbour to both of those places that is the focus of this article.

Step into the spotlight Mosley Street, which runs down from the 55 Degrees North roundabout and is where Dean Street starts and Grey Street ends, making it a road that many people pass either by car, typically on their way into work or to catch a train from Central or on foot as they head out on a night out or to head home. And, while not as packed to the brim with bars and places to eat like some of its counterparts, Mosley Street does have a lot to offer.

For years, its most famous venue was Bijoux, a place that opened in the late 00s and then really came into its own when it was a permanent filming location for Geordie Shore, with famous cast members like Charlotte Crosby, Gaz Beadle and Vicky Pattison partying there on a regular basis and people flocking from all over the UK to sample it for themselves, including its very cheap deal of trebles. Now, after all the dancing and downing drinks, Bijoux is no more and, arriving in its place in spring 2024, was Motel Mexicana, bringing with it two floors of seriously South American vibes, top tier tacos and mouth-watering margaritas.

It's also a sought after bottomless brunch destination in town and its not the only party spot on the strip; as Mosley Street is also home to student favourite Soho Rooms and its outdoor back lane terrace and one of the best cheesy haunts in town. Right on the corner of the Cloth Market and Mosley Street is Flares; a brand that has venues right across the country and has been a lynch pin of a Newcastle night out for years.

With the opportunity to but fancy dress props to up the ante for a stag do, hen do or birthday and share a fishbowl with your mates, before dancing like nobody's watching to songs like Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up, ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme and Footloose, everyone needs to go to Flares at least once!

If you fancy your evenings out of the house a bit more sophisticated, you could head to Miller & Carter, the highly regarded steak restaurant that can count Newcastle United stars Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton amongst its diners, as well as being the winner of a NewcastleLoves award. Another dining option just along the road is the popular Nadon Thai, while the Native Cave Restaurant and Bar offers a unique dining experience.
