ITV Britain's Got Talent fans spot 'problem' as Simon Cowell halts show after shout from crowd
Simon Cowell has responded to suggestions the incredible moment from Britain's Got Talent was staged
Britain's Got Talent viewers were confused by the dramatic finale to tonight's episode. The auditions ended in style tonight with a performance from Max Fox.
The singer was in the crowd watching the audition process as a fan when he decided to take his opportunity to catch Simon Cowell's attention. He shouted over to Simon as he said: "19 years I’ve tried to get in front of you and I’ve never ever had the chance.
"Can you give me one opportunity to show you what I got?” Simon was impressed by the brazen approach and asked him to clarify it wasn't a set up before he agreed to give him his chance.
Max's performance ended the show as he wowed the crowd with a performance of My Way. The singer earned a standing ovation as the crowd begged him to be sent through to the live shows.
Amanda Holden agreed with the shouts as she pressed the Golden Buzzer to send Max through. She said: "I'm just going to say, I've already pressed my golden buzzer, so I'm in a lot of trouble because that's my second golden buzzer!"
However, viewers following the show on social media platform X were confused why the Golden Buzzer was still able to be pressed as all the judges had already used the option.
Stuart said: "Why were the gold confetti cannons filled when no judges had a golden buzzer left?" Heath added: "if they have used all their golden buzzers, why was there golden confetti ready?"
Jack posted: "If there were no golden buzzers left, why did they load it up with golden confetti?" Wayne posted: "If they seriously had no golden buzzers left. Why did they still have the gold confetti loaded."
Simon has hit back at claims the moment was set up in an interview with our sister site, Mirror Online. He said: "I think I should be wired to a lie detector machine in the future to prove I’m speaking the truth because when something like this happens people instantly shout fix."
"In this case do you really think I could be bothered to plant someone in the audience? No. But that’s exactly what happened.” He added: “I knew it was genuine because of the way the security team reacted.
“He looked like he was going to try and break onto the stage or get to me. They were not twitchy and being hyper vigilant, tracking him. But I heard him say he was desperate to show us what he could do but hadn’t managed to get a place in the auditions this year.
“I went over to the producers and I said, ‘Pinky swear this is not a set up’, because you can’t break a pinky agreement. They said they had no clue about him. So we let him audition and it was an incredible moment. I just know people will say I fixed it, but I really didn’t!”
Britain's Got Talent continues on ITV next Saturday
