‘Be vigilant’: India issues fresh travel advisory for Israel, Iran amid West Asia tensions

The MEA issued a fresh travel advisory for Iran and Israel amidst the ongoing tensions in West Asia. "We continue to closely monitor the situation in the region. We have also noted that Iran and Israel have opened their airspace for several days now. We advise Indian nationals to remain vigilant while travelling to these countries and be in touch with the Indian Embassy,” said MEA.

New Delhi: In view of escalating tensions in West Asia, India has issued a travel advisory for Indian nationals planning trips to Iran and Israel. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the importance of vigilance and advised travellers to stay in touch with the Indian Embassy.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation in the region. We have also noted that Iran and Israel have opened their airspace for several days now,” said Jaiswal.

Israel-Iran tension

The advisory comes amidst a period of relative calm following recent hostilities between Iran and Israel. On April 13, Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel in response to an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier that month. The Iranian attack, which included drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles, was largely intercepted by Israeli defenses, causing minimal damage.

In retaliation on April 19, Israel targeted several Iranian military sites, including those near the city of Isfahan, which houses declared nuclear facilities. However, the Israeli strikes were limited in scope and resulted in no significant damage.

Earlier, India had expressed serious concerns over the escalating conflict between the two nations, calling for immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomacy. “It is vital that security and stability are maintained in the region,” reiterated an official statement issued by Indian government.
