Police departments and Sheriff's Offices across our country are hosting drug take back events, in conjunction with National Drug Take Back day.These events allow people to turn in unused prescription drugs, in a safe and responsible way.Police say removing these drugs from medicine cabinets and homes eliminate the possibility of them falling in to the wrong hands. Children can find the drugs and think they are candy, potentially leading to overdose.You can find a complete list of drug take back day events here.Once the pills are collected, they are handed over to Arkansas State Police who coordinate with the DEA and National Guard to transport the drugs to an incinerator to destroy them.
